Where is Tri-Cities?

When people think of Washington State, they often picture long, wet, drab days in Seattle.  But, if you know where to look, you can find a home in an area that has almost endless sun! Where is this desert paradise? The Tri-Cities area of Washington!

Kennewick Bridge

Located about 84 miles southeast of Yakima, 72 miles south of Moses Lake and 50 miles northwest of Walla Walla, and 44 miles north of Hermiston, Oregon, the Tri-Cities are home to a combined population of nearly 194,000 people. The Tri-Cities are made up of three cities, Pasco, Kennewick and Richland.

West Richland is also a part of the greater Tri-Cities area.  Well known as the home of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the area is home to a number of government related agencies. What residents know, is that the Tri-Cities offer much more than reliable nuclear power, they have access to some of the most diverse and beautiful recreation areas in North America!  Imagine living nearby three rivers, the Yakima, the Snake and the Columbia.

The outdoor activities are only as limited as your imagination and whether your passion for the outdoors is best served by summer or winter weather, the Tri-Cities are close to it all! The Tri-Cities are family friendly. There are three school districts with a large number of elementary and middle schools and 12 high schools.  If you would prefer a private education for your children, there are many great schools to choose from across the area. Looking for a college or university degree, there are a number of higher education campuses as well including Washington State University in Richland.

The Tri-Cities are well served by a number of great roads in and out of the area. The Tri-Cities Airport is located in Pasco, Richland is served by the Richland Airport and Kennewick is served by Vista Field. Right now is the perfect time to purchase a new home in the Tri-Cities. The median home prices vary by community, with Pasco at a mere $184,900, Kennewick at $211,000 and Richland at a modest $244,000.

Whatever community you choose, you’ll enjoy all of the conveniences of a modern metro area with a great selection of nationally known businesses, great dining and mom and pop shops to meet your every need. If you have thought about living in a thriving community in Washington State, but really don’t like the idea of endless rain and heavy traffic, the Tri-Cities would make a great choice.
